Beginners should play tight and avoid playing crazy hands, especially on the button. It is recommended to only play the top 20% of hands in a six-player game or 15% of hands in a ten-player game. Observing your opponents for tells and exploiting their mistakes is the key to success. It is also important to classify your opponents into one of the four basic player types: LAG, TAG, LP Fish and Super Tight Nits.
